I think it’s okay to use the word, “fucktard.”
I posted this pic on a fun social media site and got this comment back, “great! except for the blatant ableism. bummer.”
Here’s why:
Not too sure, but “fucktard” is a replacement for the able-ism word that one might be referencing. “Tard (Latin-tardus) ROOT – slow a. tardy: moving slowly” and is used in this case as “in fuckers moving slowly to learn the values of women’s equality.” The term fucktard IS problematic in that it certainly harkens to the differently-abled term, but is also an appropriate mash of, “fucker” and, “tard” to create the meaning intended here.
I love language!

Hmm. I don’t know. I don’t buy that story mostly because I think people are too stupid to come up with that. You may be smart enough for that, but no doubt origionally it came from some person who adapted it from retard. And then also most people will still associate fucktard with retard. If you feel you need to incorporate “fuck” an insult of a person can’t you just say fuckers? I think the word is just unnecessary and total ableism.
I can buy that. But I do use the word for these reasons I mention.
…and well sometimes “fuckers” is a term that just does not feel like a bad enough cuss word for a situation. David Foster Wallace (an authorial hero of mine) often melds several words together a la “disestablishmentarianism” style to do the same thing. I like that too!
